A gas firm has apologised for causing traffic chaos while working on one Lurgan’s busiest streets.
Firmus energy have been working on a number of properties in Victoria Street.
And although it is a fairly wide street, the firm was working on both sides of the road reducing traffic to one lane in some places.
One resident said: “The roads are blocked in lurgan. There is no traffic control. And there is no care for residents
A spokesperson for firmus energy said: “We would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused while we have been working on Victoria Street.
“We are currently bringing natural gas to a number of properties in the area and in this particular case, we have had to connect and work on gas pipes on both sides of the road at the same time to make this possible.
“Unfortunately due to the space available this has resulted in the closure of part of the road and footpath on Victoria Street. We appreciate that this is a very busy road and can therefore understand people’s frustration at the disruption.
“We are reviewing the site to ensure that everything is being done to improve and return access as quickly as possible and are working hard to try and minimise any further inconvenience. We aim for this job to be completed and cleared up by this weekend.Thank you to the public for their patience in the meantime,” he added.
