Walk being planned for the ABF fund

Titled ‘Forward March’ the event is being hosted by Cllr Doug Beattie MC.

The walk is from The Meadows Car Park, Portadown, to Scarva (Park Inn).

Those taking part are asked to meet at 10am at The Meadows.

All proceeds will go to The ABF-Soldiers Charity.

ABF give a lifetime of support to soldiers and former soldiers from the British Army, and their families, when they are in need.

The Army Benevolent Fund came into being on 15th August, 1944.

The “Fund for the Soldier” is, as The (London) Times said, “an object none can question” because the soldier is what it is all about. In its first year, the Charity was ‘pump-primed’ with the huge sum of £1.5m from the NAAFI’s profits.
