Waringstown WI held their January meeting and President Jennifer Taylor welcomed everyone and introduced the guest speaker Deborah Martinet.
Deborah, who is a volunteer with Save The Children, spoke about her recent trip to Cambodia and showed slides of her trip. She gave an insight into the projects the organisation are involved in as well as projects they plan for the future. She told about sampling some of the local delicacies such as grasshoppers which she described as “like chewing egg shell”.
Jean Tweed thanked Deborah for her interesting talk.
Competition winner was Elizabeth Quigg and birthday girls were Nell Prentice and Lettie Fleming. The WI annual dinner was also held in January in the Planters, Waringstown and members enjoyed a lovely meal and a good night’s entertainment.
