Philip Gerard Gentle, Limefield Rise, Craigavon, was also ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

The court heard the blue tablet was found during a search of his home on February 12 last year and Gentle admitted it belonged to him.

Mr Conor Downey, representing Gentle, said the defendant had been convicted for possession of a class B drug offence which was detected in November, 2014. He pointed out that since this latest offence over a year ago Gentle had not come to police attention.

District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates, said he was concerned about the nature of this offence. He added that Gentle’s last matter was for a class B drug but he also had a caution for a class A drug offence six years ago.

Judge Bates said he would deal with the matter on this occasion with a fine but warned Gentle if he was convicted again other disposals would be considered.
