A 34-year-old man who was texting while he was driving was banned from the roads for six months last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court.
Marius Alexsandravicius, Clendinning Way, Portadown, was convicted of using a mobile phone while driving on April 23 this year.
He was fined £150, banned for six months and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.
The court heard that at 9.10pm on the Armagh Road, Portadown, police saw the defendant using his mobile phone and he appeared to be texting.
When they spoke to the defendant he said he was ‘just texting a friend’.
Alexsandravicius did not appear in court and a conviction was recorded in his absence.
