Cllr Lennon said: “During meetings with Transport NI officials I stressed the urgent nature of these road repairs given the serious health and safety concerns they presented. Thankfully work has now begun to address the areas effected.

“I very much welcome the work being carried out to address flooding in Aghacommon. Along with our MLAs John O’Dowd and Catherine Seeley, we have been lobbying for some time to get this work carried out and address the serious issue of flooding in the area.

“This has came about directly as a result of the rural roads funding promised and delivered by Transport Minister Chris Hazzard a number of months ago. Team Sinn Féin will continue to work with rural communities to ensure that their needs are addressed and to ensure equality of treatment for our rural dwellers.”
