A woman who stole bottles of perfume to sell to fund her drug habit was put on probation last Friday at Craigavon Magistrates Court.
Kerri McAree (26), Moyraverty Centre, Craigavon, admitted the theft of ten bottles of perfume, valued at £497.16, from Debenhams on January 9 last year.
She also pleaded guilty to stealing two bottles of perfume, valued at £74.97, from TK Maxx on the same date.
The court heard that police received a report from Debenhams of the defendant taking the items and leaving the store without paying. Further items had been taken from TK Maxx.
When interviewed by police she said she had a drug dependency problem and took the items to make money.
The case had been adjourned from a previous court so that a pre-sentence report could be obtained.
District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates, said McAree had a limited record and 2013 had been a difficult year for her.
A barrister representing the defendant said that the probation report indicated probation would be the best way to deal with this.
The judge imposed a 12 month probation order.
