X-FACTOR finalists ‘The Risk’ are headlining a free concert in Lurgan town centre later this month.
The show - dubbed the ‘Lurgan Spectacular’ - will take place from 4pm-8pm next Saturday (December 16).
The four-piece band will be supported by local acts Let’s go Retro, Outside the Box, Smooth and Lurgan band Last Minute Earl.
Flash Harry, Lurgan’s own Queen tribute band will also perform at what promises to be a truly spectacular concert.
“It will be a fabulous night,” said Mayor of Craigavon Alan Carson, “and one which will really light up Lurgan especially coming up to Christmas”.
‘The Risk’ appeared on the hit ITV programme earlier this year and have built up quite a fan base.
Around 5,000 people are expected to cram into the town’s central plaza for the event.
Local trader and member of Lurgan Restore Committee Charlie Gardiner, who is working closely with Craigavon Borough Council on the event, said it will “put Lurgan on the map for the right reasons”.
“We’re absolutely delighted,” he said.
“This night will put Lurgan on the map for all the right reasons - this is a great town with lots to offer.
“We want to put a smile on the faces of the people of Lurgan.”
Simon Dowey, of Lurgan Chamber of Trade said it was “great news for the town”.
“We hope that investing in events such as this will encourage people to choose to spend their money in their home town,” he said.
“We are trying to bring positive things to Lurgan and show that we do have something to offer.”
Lurgan Spectacular is a Lurgan Restore initiative funded by the Department for Social Development, which aims to revitalise the retail heart of Lurgan through a range of marketing initiatives.
