While plans have been outlined for easing lockdown across the UK, many restrictions still remain in place.

Members of the public are still being urged to follow social distancing guidance and remain in their households as much as possible, leading many to draw comparisons to a similar situaion in the form of Disney’s Tangled.

Did Disney predict coronavirus?

The popular Disney film, which was released in 2010, tells the story of Rapunzel, who is locked away in a tower for 18 years.

While the story is one that is familiar to many, fans have been quick to spot strikingly similar details to today’s current health pandemic.

Most poignant is the fact Rapunzel is locked away in the village of Corona.

Noticing the strange coincidence, startled fans tweeted: “Remember the film Tangled? And how she was locked up in a castle?? AS IF the castle was called CORONA castle… shame we’re not living in a fairytale. I’d rather be locked up in a castle tbf.”

“So the movie from Disney Tangled the girl is not allowed out of the castle. The kingdom is called Corona. Coincidence!! I don’t think so. I’m shook.”

“Tangled the Disney movie. About a girl who is isolated from the kingdom of Corona. Well played @Disney.”

“The kingdom in Tangled is called Corona.”

“Corona is an island kingdom and the birthplace of Rapunzel in Disney's 2010 animated feature film, Tangled. After a significant period of isolation it is also where Rapunzal met her future husband/prince. Just saying.”

“@Disney #Tangled the film about a girl who is in forced isolation lives in a town called....Corona!”

“I saw an IG story that said Rapnunzel was “quarantined” for 18 years by Mother Ethel and he said Google the name of the Kingdom in Tangled. I was shook. Disney is the villain! #corona.”

“The movie “Tangled” which featured Rapunzel (AKA The Queen of Quarantine) was a girl who was locked up by her over protective mother, in a secluded tower on an island.Brace yourself… That island was called “Corona”.”

Was Rapunzel shielded from a pandemic?

Disney is not the first to have potentially predicting the current global health pandemic, with The Simpsons correctly seen some of its predictions play out in real life - including Donald Trump becoming the US President.

And now fans believe Disney may have weirdly predicted that the world was going to be struck down by coronavirus, and that everyone would need to isolate themselves to stay safe.

Disney’s modern version of Rapunzel saw the blonde beauty locked away in a tower for the first 18 years of her life.

While the story sees her kept there so that the wicked Mother Gothel can use her magic golden hair - which stops her from aging - to keep her looking youthful forever.

But it turns out that Rapunzel is being shielded from a village named Corona and is locked away in ‘quarantine’ for the first 18 years of her life.

Fans are now calling into question whether Rapunzel is actually being shielded from an ongoing pandemic and the quarantine is actually for her own good, rather than the selfish needs of Mother Gothel.

Of course with all fairytales, Rapunzel gets her happy ending eventually, after making her escape with intruder and thief Flynn Rider.

The supposed quarantine ultimately led to her finding her perfect man in life - so here’s hoping for a similar silver lining to the coronavirus outbreak,
