Trio called up for Under-13 inter-pro series
Three local cricketers have been selected to represent the Northern Cricket Union in the Under-13 Interprovincial series. Callum Gibson and Jack Maxwell, both of Lurgan, will be joined by Jack Carson from Waringstown and the three boys will be competing against the best players from across Ireland at the three day event in the North West area from 2nd to 4th July.
Following the announcement of the squad, Michael Hingston, NCU U-13 Head Coach, said, “The Under 13 Interprovincial Series has always been an extremely competitive tournament and I expect this year to be no different. For many, this will be the starting point for their Interprovincial and International cricketing career.”
Lurgan Tigers Under 13s reached the semi-final of the Banoge Cup with a comprehensive 37 run victory over Carrickfergus. The Tigers lost Callum Gibson for 4, but Jack Maxwell with 35 and Max Lyttle with 32 enabled them to post a score of 100 for 4 with the help of 23 extras.

Later in the week, they crashed to 44 run defeat by Instonians in the league. They had previously knocked Instonians out of the cup but failed to reproduce that performance. Instonians batted posted a total of 102 for 5. Only Callum Gibson with 2 for 7 and Harry Lockhart with 1 for 16 bowled to their potential. In reply only Harry Long and Jon Woods reached double figures as they were bowled out for 58.
