LURGAN Town under-16’s travelled to Lisburn on Saturday to take on Greenisland.
With a few players injured the team had to have a few changes and it showed at the beginning of the game as Town started sloppy and could not get control of the game and ended up one a goal behind.
This seemed to spark Lurgan to life and soon after a super delivery from Ryan Cousin to Phillip Bingham saw him level the scores. Ryan Cousins scored a superb goal from 30 yards out as Lurgan started to dominate and had a chance from Scott Magennis cleared off the line. Shortly after the hardworking Ryan Taylor was unlucky to have a shot cleared off the line just before half time.
In the second half Lurgan lost concentration and conceded in the first couple of minutes then conceded another two to leave score at 4-2.
Greenisland started to boss the game but the impressive Conor McPartland, playing in the new position of centre half, was making crucial clearances. Dillian Roberts scored with a tidy finish to bring Town back into game. In the last 15 minutes Town pushed for the game to get points which they deserved but that left them open at the back and they conceded another goal to leave the final score 5-3 to Greenisland.
Special mention goes to Ryan Cousins for his super passing and his brilliant goal, but man of the match goes to Conor McPartland.
