Cup stroll for slick Dollingstown
After a three week lay off Dollingstown wasted no time in getting on the scoresheet when Ritchie Thompson put them ahead in the second minute when he calmly rounded the keeper after a superb ball from Adam Walker.
Player manager Jason Gillespie hit a rasping free kick for Fivemiletown which forced keeper Kris Fletcher into a smart save while at the other end Jamie Wright fired an excellent free kick against the bar.
Five minutes before the break Ritchie Thompson turned provider when he played in Adam Walker who calmly fired home low and make it to 2-0 at the interval.
Dollingstown lost Jamie Wright just before the interval with a tight hamstring and he was replaced by Ashley Gregg.
Fivemiletown lost the services of player manager Gillespie on the hour mark with a second yellow card after he had a goal disallowed, but credit to his team they continued to fight hard for every ball as indeed did the returning Andy Hamilton to the Dollingstown central midfield.
With 20 minutes remaining Andy King and Adam Montgomery replaced Hamilton and Thompson respectively. Montgomery scored the goal of the game on 80 minutes when from a great through ball by Jordan Gibson, he calmly rounded two defenders before calmly stroking the ball low into the bottom corner.
Richard Donaghy who had worked hard throughout the match should have scored number four but missed from literally two yards out.
On Saturday Dollingstown start the first of four away matches when they face H&W Welders in the Irish Cup . This will be a daunting challenge as the Welders under ex Glenavon star Gary Smyth at the helm are flying in Championship 1. However Dollingstown can cause an upset if they play to their full potential and will relish the chance to try and progress to the 5th round when all the Premier League teams join in. Dollingstown thank their anonymous match sponsor and also JK Autospares from Lurgan who sponsored the ball.
