Glenavon have been given permission to speak to Warrenpoint striker Daniel Hughes.
The Mail understands Gary Hamilton hopes to hold talks with the player in a bid to bring him to Mourneview Park.
It is not the first time Hamilton has tried to snap up the much sought after striker.
“I tried to sign Daniel twice before,” says Hamiton.
“We contacted Warrenpoint manager Barry Gray and asked if we could talk to Daniel and we plan to set up a meeting soon.
“There are a number of clubs keen to sign him including Cliftonville, Linfield and Crusaders so we will see what happens.
“We have freed up a bit of money by releasing Darren Forsyth. We took a bit of a gamble with Darren and he took a chance coming to us but it just hasn’t worked out for us. He was a bit unlucky as he was injured for a few weeks, but he had the right attitude and was a great lad to work with and we wish him well in the future.”
