GLENAVON’S young stars are making an impact at youth international level.
Last week Ryan Corrigan and Jordan Dane played for the Northern Ireland Under-18s against Scotland.
Ryan was to prove the matchwinner, coming off the bench to score twice as NI came from a goal down to win 2-1.
There was just four minutes left when Ryan picked the ball up 25 yards from goal and unleashed a fierce drive into the corner of the net. Two minutes later the midfielder struck again with another cracking effort to seal a dramatic start to the Centenary Shield campaign.
Next up for Northern Ireland is a trip to Plymouth to play England on Friday, March 8.
Glenavon’s Robbie McDaid was off to Slovenia this week with the NI Under-17 squad. They secured a 1-0 win on Tuesday night.
Stephen Robinson’s side will take on Slovenia again on Thursday night, with the games being used as part of the team’s preparations for the upcoming UEFA European Under-17 Championship - elite round mini tournament.
