Former Everton manager Joe Royle is a surprise guest at the Glenavon friendly with Everton Under 21s on Saturday at Mourneview Park.
Joe, who signed for the Everton 52 years ago as a schoolboy, scored over 100 goals during his playing career from 1966 to 1974.
He became manager of his beloved Blues in 1994 and the following year won the FA Cup with a 1-0 win over Manchester United.
Glenavon take on David Unsworth’s Under 21 side as part of the deal which saw the Aghagallon teenager Shayne Lavery move to the Toffees in March.
“It was all a last minute thing,” said Joe. I flew over to Dublin on Wednesday to see the Under 21 win over Bohemians and we are looking forward to the game with Glenavon.”
Glenavon chairman is delighted Royle is on his way. “Joe Royle is a legend. He is steeped in the history of Everton Football Club and we are delighted he is coming to Mourneview Park.”
The match kicks off at 3.00pm.
