Brian McCaul has been released by Glenavon.
The 23-year-old former Linfield player was unable to gain a regular first team place since his move to Mourneview Park in January this year.
It was his second spell at Glenavon, having been on loan from Linfield the previous season.
“I’m gutted things did not work out for Brian,” said manager Gary Hamilton. “During his loan spell he more or less saved the club from relegation but since he came back it has never really worked out for him.
“He came to me after the cup final and indicated he wanted to go. The fact he was not getting regular first team football meant he missed out in being in the cup final squad and perhaps Brian had to make a decision about what he wanted to do. He wants to play centre midfield, but we see him in a different role.
“He is a great lad and leaves with our best wishes.”
