Glenavon continued their pre-season with a 5-2 win at Dollingstown on Tuesday night.
It was a keenly contested match with Dollingstown also impressing as they came back from 2-0 down to level at 2-2.
Glenavon then stepped up a gear and late goals sealed the win.
Mark Patton gave the visitors the lead on six minutes, a brilliant curling shot into the top corner gave goalkeeper Shane McParland, on loan from Dungannon Swifts, no chance.
However, the young keeper produced two excellent saves to deny Glenavon further early goals, First he tipped over a shot from Mark Sykes and then got his hand to a close range header from Gary Hamilton.
Towards the end of the half Glenavon doubled the lead, Sykes showing his silky skills with a thumping left foot shot that flew into the net.
After Rhys Marshall grazed the bar with a header from Hamilton’s cross early in the second half the home side were rewarded when Roland O’Hara cut a neat pass back to Glenn hand and he swept a low shot past Johnny Tuffey.
On 70 minutes it was all square and it was another excellent strike with Richard Thompson connecting with an angled dipping volley from the left which stunned the Glenavon keeper.
However, within a minute Glenavon restored their lead with the impressive Sykes tapping in from close range after a neat build-up.
McParland kept up his impressive show keeping out shots from Hamilton and Patton but he could not stop Kevin Braniff and Patton from adding to Glenavon’s tally in the latter stages.
