It was honours even on an afternoon in which the two goalkeepers grabbed the plaudits between Carrick Rangers and Glenavon.

Glenavon made the trip in search of points towards securing top-six status, with Rangers aiming to gain a boost in the battle against relegation.

Brian Neeson and Jonny Tuffey each stepped into the spotlight with a string of smart stops to ensure a point apiece at the final whistle.

“We are pleased with a fourth clean sheet in a row but disappointed overall as we created enough chances,” said Glenavon assistant manager Paul Millar. “It is encouraging to see us create openings but we need to start putting them away.”

Rangers boss Aaron Callaghan had praise for his players’ spirited performance.

“We had to make some late changes and the playeers showed a great attitude,” said Callaghan. “I think a draw was probably fair overall.”
