Only one local team got to play last weekend in the Mid Ulster League with the rest having a day off because of the bad weather.
Lurgan Thistle Reserves braved the 90 mile round trip to Kilkeel to play runaway leaders Valley Rangers.
The weather played havoc with squad availability and the Jags travelled with just one sub who was called into action after 20 minutes, when C. Lavery was forced off with an ankle injury.
Swifts pressed the Thistle backline, but they held firm. The inevitable goal came and half time was 1-0to Swifts
The second half saw Thistle with a few chances of their own as C. Compston found himself in good positions, but couldn’t beat the keeper. Patterson equalised for Thistle, but then Compston saw red for two yellow cards.
The Swifts turned up the heat against ten man Thistle, but the Jags held firm with each and every player giving their all. The homeside scored from a corner with the last kick of the ball to win the spoils 2-1.
