LURGAN Coarse Angling Club’s grand final, featuring the top ten anglers from the Club’s Summer League has taken place on Loughgall Country Park lake on pegs 16 to 25.
The weather conditions were bad with a gale force wind making it difficult for most anglers to fish the usual long pole short line method.
Because of this most anglers were forced to fish the tip for the full five hour match and Jason Lunt’s winning weight of 11Kgs was all caught on this method.
Jason’s catch consisted of one big bream of about 3Kgs along with a few small bream about a kilo each all taken from peg 18 and was by far the outstanding catch of the day!
However, it was a very close contest to see who would complete the top four, with David Herron banking second spot with 1.900Kgs of small fish on the short pole from peg 24.
Third was Gordon Clayton with 1.700Kgs of small fish from peg 16 and fourth was Paul McBride who also finished with a net of small fish weighing in at 1.540Kgs from peg 25.
