LURGAN have given their Premier League survival hopes a massive boost with the signing of New Zealand all-rounder Jamie Holmes.
The Pollock Park club announced on Thursday afternoon that the former Carrickfergus man is joining them for the 2013 season.
The Irish passport holder will bat in the top order and bowl spin.
In 15 NCU matches last year Holmes made an impressive 704 runs at an average of more than 46. He also took 10 wickets.
After Carrickfergus’ relegation from the Premier League last season, it was thought that the 21-year-old would remain in New Zealand over their winter.
But after a deal for a Zimbabwean Irish passport holder fell through, Lurgan have pulled a major coup in landing Holmes, who at one stage was linked with a switch to title-hunting Instonians.
