Golf returned to Silverwood golf club after the poor weather forced the course to be closed for two weeks and with the greens in excellent condition this reflected in the good scoring by the members.
First place in the 0-12 section was Paul McFadden with 39 points thanks to 21 points on the front nine and 18 points on the back seven holes, which included seven birdies, four pars, two bogeys, two double bogeys and one no-score in his up and down round.
Second place was Michael Haughain with 39 points, Michael had 22 points on the front nine with two birdies at the 8th and 9th holes, five pars and two bogeys, his back seven contained five pars and two bogeys for 17 points.
In third place was Kieran Murray again with 39 points, he had 23 points on his front nine with two birdies at the 1st and 6th holes,and seven pars,.
His back seven had one birdie at the 18th hole, one bogey at the 15th hole and five pars for 16 points.
In the middle section first place went to Dominic Marsden with the best score of the day 40 points. Dominic had 22 points on his front nine with six pars at the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 7th and 8th holes and two bogeys.
His back seven included five pars and two bogeys at the 12th and 15th holes for 18 points.
In second place was Paul Hamill with 39 points. He scored 21 points on the front nine and 18 points on the back seven with one birdie at the 13th hole and nine pars in his round.
Third place went to Daryl Patton with 38 points, he had a great start with birdies at the 1st and 2nd holes for a front nine of 20 points and 18 points on the back seven which contained six pars and one double bogey.
First in the high section was Derek Church with 39 points. Derek had 24 points on his front nine with five pars and four bogeys, and 15 points on the back seven, with two pars four bogeys and one double bogey.
In second place was Joe Mc Avoy with 36 points. He had seven pars, six bogeys and three double bogeys in his round and third place went to Jim Mulligan with 35 points.
The gross prize was won by Patrick Jordan with a three under par round of golf for 35 gross points.
Patrick had five birdies at the 1st, 2nd, 7th, 9th and 18th holes and his only blemish was a double bogey at the 11th hole with the remaining holes played in pars.
The senior prize was picked up by the club captain Frank Gallagher with 38 points.
The competition this Saturady is the Christmas Hampers and the club would ask all members to please replace divots and repair pitch marks on the greens as they are making an unwelcome return to our putting surface.
