Lurgan hold on for vital victory

Lurgan entertained Letterkenny on Saturday knowing a league win would help consolidate their status in Qualifying Three.

The visitors started the stronger and Lurgan after a lot of defensive effort conceded a penalty which Letterkenny converted.

However Lurgan bounced back and took the lead when following a lineout on Letterkenny 22 the pack rumbled over with Michael Campbell touching down. Stephen Nolan converted. Lurgan continued to dominate the first half with prop Andrew Gray scoring after good work by Richard Shilliday.

Letterkenny were in the ascendancy in the second half and deservedly scored a penalty and a unconverted try. Lurgan held on desperately to the final whistle coming away with a one point victory margin.

This Friday night Lurgan host Larne at Pollock Park with a 7.30pm kick off. All support is welcome.
