LURGAN Rugby Club U13s qualified for the knock stages of the U13 Cup with 43-5 victories against Coleraine and Enniskillen respectively and a walk over result against Ards.

The first game of the campaign saw the Tigers run in run in seven tries, four to Peter Jackson and three to Gareth Gardiner with four conversions by scrum half Jack Carson against a very spirited and hard tackling Coleraine team.

This match was significant for the contributions of the entire Squad but most notably from half back pairing of Jack Carson and Michael Campbell and from loose head prop Daniel Hannon in his first competitive match. After the walkover against Ards, the last match of the qualifying series saw the squad overcome a hard running Enniskillen side with tries from Peter Jackson (3) Alex Shannon (2) and Tom Lavery(2) with again four conversions from out half Jack Carson.

The match saw the backline really come to life with Alex Shannon, Peter Jackson, Ben Davidson, Theo Dixon, Jack Maxwell, half back pairing of Josh Abraham and Jack Carson particularly prominent along with good contributions from Jay Martin, Peter Hutchinson and Joss Richardson. Up front the entire back Pack of Conor Foster, Ben Hunter, Daniel Hannon, Tom Lavery, Alex Best, Jon Woods, Gareth Gardiner, Joel Gregson along with replacements Jack Dunn, Ryan Armstrong Snr and Matthew McConaghy put in great shifts. However, there are still a few things for the Squad to work on, particularly at the breakdown and the coaches will be working the Squad hard until the ends of the season.

The squad now advance to the quarter finals and have a home tie against neighbours Dromore, if the previous encounters this season are to go by it will be close to call. Thanks go to all of the parents, supporters and other Squad members who have given the squad great encouragement over the season to date.
