Nostalgia: Manager swaps office for Sahara

A Lurgan manager swapped his office for the Sahara desert in 2002 to raise funds for Action Cancer.

Michael McConville, then manager of an office in High Street, Lurgan, described it as ‘the challenge of a lifetime’.

Michael was joined by 70 others, from all over the province, as they met at an hotel in Morocco.

They were then transported to the M’goun Valley where their trek through the Anti-Atlas Mountains began. Michael said: “Our journey took us through breathtaking valleys, gorges and passes, visiting several Berber villages on route.”

In total he raised £10,194 for the charity group while the trek itself raised over £210,000.
