Lurgan’s Chris Laverty has been handed a place on the Team Ireland reserve list ahead of the World Championships at Craigavon Lakes across May 23 and 24.
Laverty is one of four anglers from the area who managed to negotiate the international qualifying event at Craigavon Lakes.
Portadown’s Colin Rutherford, Andrew Powell from Richhill and Loughgall’s Lindsay McFadden have each made the main panel.
The next challenge for Predator Team Ireland will come at the 13th FIPSed World Championships Bank Fishing with Lures.
“I would like to congratulate all of those who have secured their place on Team Ireland and I am absolutely delighted to hear that four of the overall eight places have come from the County Armagh area,” said Councillor Darryn Causby, Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council. “It certainly goes to show the calibre of angler we have in this Council area and further endorses Craigavon Lakes as the ideal place to hold the World Championships.”
A delegation from Latvia made the trip to the borough to view the Team Ireland qualifiers ahead of the main event later this month.
