We just didn’t turn up - boss

Manager’s View

ONCE again, I’m very frustrated.

We were absolutely abysmal in the first 45 minutes and coming in just 1-0 down was a big bonus. Whilst we were very poor, they weren’t a lot better although deserved their 1-0 lead.

You’re always in with a chance at 1-0 down and we made a couple of changes at half-time, bringing on Mark Miskimmin and Anto McGonnell. I thought we gave a better account of ourselves after the break.

We told the players it wasn’t good enough at half-time and got a response from them. I don’t like having to give boys a rollicking at half-time but sometimes it has to be done.

Mark and Anto brightened us up. Anto did well and Miskimmin held it up well. He was unlucky with a couple of shots.

When you’re going well, they go in for you but at the end of the day, we didn’t score. When you don’t score you don’t win matches.

We were chasing the game until they scored their second goal and that was it over really.

It was as poor a Glentoran side as I’ve seen for some time. However our team didn’t turn up on Saturday and there were a couple of players out there who were totally anonymous.

Unfortunately I didn’t have the personnel to change things. There are a few lads there who need to ask themselves what they’re doing out there.
