Moka wins FairtradeCafe of Year Award
During Fairtrade Fortnight tea and coffee connoisseurs were asked by the Coleraine Borough Fairtrade Group, to vote for their favourite Fairtrade café.
Cafés throughout the borough which stock three or more Fairtrade products were deemed eligible to be nominated for the award.

Hide AdCustomers of those participating cafés were invited to vote online at Coleraine Fairtrade Group’s website. Moka, which is operated by The Mount Charles Group, Ireland’s largest catering and business support solutions company, won the public vote with 31 per cent voting them as their favourite Fairtrade cafe.
Moka Manager, Ann Rodgers, said: “We were delighted when the Coleraine Borough Fairtrade Group nominated us to be entered into the Borough’s Fairtrade Café Awards. It is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the Fairtrade work we have been pioneering at Moka.
“Moka is a local, fiercely independent outlet that is proud of its commitment to Fairtrade. We’ve even introduced our own signature recipes such as ‘muffins with morals’ and we’re thrilled our customers enjoy the effort we put in to creating the overall Moka experience.”
The Mayor of Coleraine, councillor George Duddy, said: ““Buying Fairtrade products makes a real and tangible difference to thousands of people and their families. I’d like to congratulate to Moka on their award and extend many thanks to all the cafés, shops and stores who took part and sell Fairtrade products.”
The Cornerstone, Garvagh, Ground Espresso Bars, Coleraine and Portrush; New Society, Coleraine and Starbucks, Coleraine also took part.
