At a meeting of the Rathfriland Presbytery, with the Reverend J S McMillan, BA, presiding, a unanimous call was tabled from the Cooke Centenary Church, Belfast, to the Reverend Cassels Cordner, MA, Castlewellan, to be colleague and successor to the Very Reverend Dr McMillan.
The Reverend D Stewart, BA, Belfast, was leader of a strong deputation from the Cooke Church, consisting of Messrs H Logan, J Ervine, J H Donaldson, D Gilchrist, D A Rea, W Cecil Guiler, W J Patterson, J Miskelly, and J Rodgers.

Hide AdThe Castlewellan congregation was represented by practically all the members of Session and Committee.
Members of both deputations having spoken, the call was placed in Mr Cordner’s hands on the motion of the Reverend H A Irvine, BA, seconded by the Reverend James Keen. BA.
Mr Cordner having intimated his acceptance of the call, was furnished with credentials to the Belfast Presbytery.
The vacant congregation was placed in charge of commission consisting of Reverend J Keers, BA, convener, the Reverend H H Moore, MA, the Reverend B Wilson, BD, the Reverend H A Irvine, BA, and the elders of Castlewellan Church.
Ulster as tourist resort

Hide AdThe News Letter during this week in 1931 that the monthly meeting of the Council of Management of the Ulster Tourist Development Association Ltd had been held in Belfast.
Mr Robert Bailie, chairman, presided, and there was a large and representative attendance.
The question of the production of a film of Ulster scenery was again discussed and data was placed before the council.
The matter was favourably received and it was hoped that sometime in the future it would be found possible to undertake this form of publicity.

Hide AdThe secretary reported also reported that a joint deputation had appeared before the Ballymoney Rural District Council with a view to having an improvement effected in the condition of the road to the Giant’s Causeway.
