GCSE results: Hazelwood pupils forge ahead in STEM subjects
According to the college, there has been a significant improvement in STEM subjects, with Science, Mathematics and Engineering all achieving higher grades than last year.
“These results are particularly satisfying as the college has invested greatly in these subject areas. We recognise that achievement in STEM subjects makes our students more successful in the labour market, as many of the fastest growing industries require students who have taken STEM subjects,” principal Kathleen O’Hare commented.

“Teachers are to be commended for an amazing set of results across 30 subjects. This continues our improvement journey to become one of the top non-selective schools in Northern Ireland,” she added.
Interestingly, many of the college’s top performing pupils were international students, from countries such as Poland and Slovakia.
In Year 11, Hazelwood’s early entry GCSE students also performed extremely well, with 24 students achieving grade A* - C in Mathematics and 32 achieving grade A* - C in Science.
