Olivia wins Loughridge bursary
The bursary and shield were presented by Dr Loughridge’s son Dale at a ceremony hosted by Alderman Patricia McKinney in the Mayor’s Parlour.
Olivia achieved four A stars in her A levels and is going on to study medicine at Cambridge University.

Hide AdSandra Swann explained that the bursary is awarded to the pupil going on to study medicine who gains the highest marks at A level and lives in the borough of Carrickfergus.
Dr Loughridge practiced in Carrick for 37 years and his influence on the quality of life in the borough was considerable, as he not only served his patients with dedication and great skill, but also made an outstanding contribution to the community through his many and varied interests/
Victor Hart, secretary of the trustees said: “Studying at university has become expensive and it is great to be able to help and encourage students in a tangible way.”
