Excellent display by under 17s
The town side were heavily defeated in the corresponding fixture last season and right from the off Lisburn threw everything they had at Lurgan.
As a result of a high tackle Lurgan were awarded a penalty which Mark McIlwaine converted to put his side 3-0 in front against the run of play.

Hide AdThe home side replied with an unconverted try but Lurgan regrouped and after a series of scrums on the Lisburn line Ben McIlwaine scored under the posts with his brother Mark adding the conversion.
A third try came Lurgan’s way through Michael McCrory who outpaced the defence to score in the corner.
A penalty to Lisburn ended the scoring in the first half at 15-10 to the visitors.
Lurgan started the second half by doubling their efforts. This soon showed after just three minutes when Jamie Clarke scored in the corner.

Hide AdTry of the match followed ten minutes later. With possession deep within Lurgan’s half a number of close contact drives from Chris Faloon, Patrick McVey and Ben McIlwaine let Mark McIlwaine in for a superbly taken converted try.
Next up was Karl Sterling with a converted try to make the score 32-10.
Lisburn hit back with a try but Lurgan had the last say with Daniel Lyness scoring a converted try under the posts.
