Wayne's world at Rathmore!
At time of going to Press on Monday, Wayne’s 61 looks like a new course record. A front nine of only 30 shots included birdies at three, six and eight and a super eagle 3 at the fourth.
Further birdies were returned at the tenth, eleventh, thirteenth and fourteenth and with no shots dropped at all, a gross of 61 was posted.

Hide AdWayne had to add his plus three handicap to arrive at a net of 64, two clear of runner-up Johnny Birch, a four handicapper who, with three birdies on the card, posted a net 64.
A couple of bogies on the back nine proved costly to Johnny. Double bogies at one and seven meant a modest return of 41 by the halfway stage for Donal McNicholl (11). A steadier back nine, including a two at 18, gave a better return of 37 for a total of 78 netting down to 67 and third spot on countback.
Five birdies perfectly balanced by five bogies gave Simon Carruthers a net of 67, again on countback, to grab fourth from Jimmy Magill (10). Jimmy, fresh from his win in the Toal Kearney Cup last week, had an unfortunate 7 at the fourth but calmed himself to return another 67 including a birdie 3 at the seventeenth. The final 67 came from Harry Moon (6). Birdies at three holes were offset by several bogies and a bad 6 at the seventh hole restricted Harry’s total to 67.
An eagle three at the tenth hole helped Ben Best to the gross prize. Ben carded a 69 which also included birdies at 9, 13 and 15.
