Local MP David Simpson is currently among those on lockdown in the Houses of Parliament following a possible terrorist incident there this afternoon (Wednesday, March 22).

Reporting from the Chamber Mr Simpson said: “This is a very worrying situation in London this afternoon.

“We are in the Chamber which is on lockdown.

“We have not been given the full details but it is being treated as a terrorist attack until further notice.

“Wednesday is the busiest day at Westminster and this attack has clearly been carefully planned for maximum impact.

“My thoughts are with those who have been injured.”

A police officer has been stabbed in the Houses of Parliament and the alleged assailant was shot by police.

It is also being reported that several people were “mowed down” by a vehicle on Westminster Bridge.

The Metropolitan Police say they are treating it as a terrorist incident and buildings are in lockdown.
