Julie, with family and friends, decided to take part in the challenge after her partner, Jim ‘Smokey’ Mulholland, lost his battle with cancer in June.

Julie said: “When my partner Jim passed away, I wanted to say thank you for the tremendous care that he received during his treatment. When I attended the Cancer Centre with Jim, I was amazed by the work of Friends of the Cancer Centre in supporting local cancer patients and their families. When Jim was up at the Bridgewater Suite for his treatment, he always enjoyed a cuppa and when I heard that these were provided by the charity free of charge, I knew I had to give something back.

“I always wanted to climb Slieve Donard and when I found out Friends of the Cancer Centre were having an annual walk I knew I had to do it.”
