The court heard police went to Drumellan Gardens where the defendant was causing a disturbance. He was verbally abusive to his mother who asked for him to be removed from the property.

Ward became hostile to police and said ‘Collie Duffy’s going to get you’ while making a gun gesture with his hand to police.

He also attempted to head-butt one of the officers.

The matter had been deferred from August and since then Ward had not come to the attention of the police.

His solicitor said he had problems with alcohol and this incident was fuelled by alcohol.

He added that Ward intended to continue staying out of trouble.
