Heather has the edge after keen contest

The ladies made the most of the good weather this week and were lucky enough to play two days in a row when they followed up the Menary Cup with the Royal British Legion and Mrs Gina Lewis’s prize.

A score of 37 points seemed to be the most popular return of the day with no less than five ladies recording this score which really gave the computer something to think about to separate them all. When all the counting back was complete Heather Shaw took top spot courtesy of having the better last two holes. Heather finished birdie, par so her strong finish saw her over the line.

The gross went to Niamh McSherry who in a major return to form had a very impressive level par round of 72.

Niamh had no less than four birdies and a one under back nine so the course record could be under threat soon.

Section one went to Sheena McStay with 37 points just beating Anne Knox and Olwyn Forrester on the count back.

Sheena had a nice 3 over par back nine and is back on the “twos” trail again as she had a two at the twelfth.

Section two went to Sorcha Mulholland with, you guessed it, 37 points and Sorcha just pipped Ita Hanna. Sorcha hasn’t played much golf yet, due to other commitments, so the members are all delighted she hasn’t lost her touch and look forward to seeing her out again soon.

Section three went to Priscilla Clayton with 34 points. Priscilla took advantage of the alternate day to fit her golf in this week and her determination to play was rewarded with a prize.
