Martyn it fitness race ahead of first game

Andy McGrory had given Glenavon the lead after a shot from Joel Cooper was spilled into his path by the Ards Rangers keeper.

The home side struck a late goal to leave the scores level at the finish.

“It was another good work out for us,” said manager Gary Hamilton. “The minus was the injury sustained by Ciaran Martyn. He has injured his calf and we will have to wait and see how he feels over the next few days, but he could be out for a while.

“We gave some of the younger players some minutes and they showed up well.”

Seanna Foster, who was with Sheffield Wednesday Academy, also played in the game in defence for the Lurgan Blues.

Andy Kilmartin sustained a calf injury at Drogheda last Saturday but should be ready for the visit of Cliftonville next Saturday.
