Lurgan Celtic clinched the Championship 2 title after thumping Sport&Leisure 5-0 at Knockramer Park on Tuesday night.

The result will be sweet music to the ears of Portadown’s Annagh United who could have been pipped by the Swifts to second place and promotion if the Belfast side won all their remaining games.

Celtic, who went intothe game assured of promotion, went one up in the fourth minute through defender Stephen Hutchinson. A Chris Lavery double put the home side into an unassailable 3-0 lead just before the half time interval to leave Colin Malone’s men with a firm grip on the trophy.

Raymond Fitzpatrick grabbed Celtic’s fourth in the 65th minute and with four minutes left he pounced again to record his 35th goal of the season.
