Success for Lisburn based badminton stars

Badminton 2016 U14 Div 1 team are Jack Livingstone, Josh Armstrong, Owen McFeely and Ben Callaghan.

Congratulations to the RBAI Minor Badminton team of Jack Livingstone, Josh Armstrong, Owen McFeely and Ben Callaghan who played their Ulster Schools League Division 1 final on Friday 4 March.

The boys, who are all from Lisburn, won convincingly against Friends by 5-1 and, along with the Senior team, qualified for the Irish Finals in Dublin on Wednesday 9 March.

Both teams represented Ulster at the Irish Schools’ Championships.

In Dublin the Minor team competed in the Division 1, U14 Final against Templeogue, Leinster.

This was a very exciting, closely contested match which they drew 3-3 in games and 6-6 in sets, winning by 147-137 on count-back to points to claim the Irish U14 Championship.

Many congratulations to the boys on their remarkable success; it was a fantastic achievement to win both the Ulster and Irish Championships.
