Humorous book raises funds for MNDA

In 2011 local man Brian Johnston published a book of humour which has proved to be so popular, that a third reprint was published earlier this year.

Many charitable organisations have benefited from Brian’s charity work not least Marie Curie Cancer Care, but over the past number of years he has been keen to raise money for Motor Neurone Disease Association, and proceeds from future sales of the book will be given to this most worthy charity.

Well known throughout the province as a compere Brian has been involved in literally hundreds of concerts over the past forty years, and is in demand to provide entertainment for numerous other organisations including Church senior citizens groups, folds and homes, and at after dinner functions. It is at the end of all these events that his book has been in great demand. Over the past nine years, many people who have bought the book have purchased further copies to send to friends and family all over the world.

Brian is particularly grateful to Alf McCreary MBE, award-winning journalist and broadcaster, for writing the Foreword for the book.

The last six months has been a disastrous time for so many charities, including MNDA, as so many events to raise money had to be cancelled because of Covid 19, their potential funds have been decimated. Brian has had some eighteen events cancelled between mid March and the end of 2020, at which he would have hoped to sell quite a number of the books, and therefore he has not been able to support MNDA as he had hoped.

The book costs £7 and can be purchased by contacting Brian on 07773 765781 or emailing [email protected].
