'Legends' start anniversary tour

OVER the years entertainers who survive long enough in the music industry always embark on an anniversary tour.

And local act 'The Legends' are no different with their 20th anniversary tour kicking off this weekend.

It seems like no time since a group of friends got together to form the tribute act, not knowing how successful it would become.

They have played to packed houses all over the country but are coming back to their roots for the first gig of their anniversary tour.

The original trio were Brendan 'Elvis' McGibbon, Tommy 'Deano' Coleman and Laura 'Dusty' Hoye.

Since then they have added to the line up with the likes of Frank Withers as Perry Como, Gerard Lavery as Frank Sinatra and Mal, formerly of Mal and the Mustangs, with his rendition of Joe Dolan.

Two new acts joining them are Shannon McConville as Tina Turner and Michelle Casey as Lady Gaga.

Brendan McGibbon said that despite many people looking to join them they only recruited the best.

"One man who tried out as Roy Orbinson was a total imposter as he was only miming. All acts sing live," added Brendan.

The not-to-be-missed concert is this Saturday night at 9pm in the Clann Eireann club in aid of the local handball club.
