Orla selected as face of Les Miserables

Orla McDowell from Lurgan has been selected to be the face of Les Miserables School Edition for Moyraverty Arts and Drama Society.

Orla who is a pupil at St Francis Primary School has re-created the famous image of the young Cosette which is the world wide symbol of Les Miserables.

Orla who has been a member of MADS for a couple of years is also a very talented young lady and has come through the audition process to actually perform as Cosette in the opening night of this production on Wednesday, September 10.

A spokesperson for the society said: “We are delighted with the progress of Orla who recently performed as Annie in our Sound of Musicals show and as Ariel in Mads musical theatre showcase.

“We have selected five young girls to perform as the young Cosette for Les Miserables Schoole Edition but Orla was perfect to be our poster girl. We had a make-up artist at our summer scheme and she taught our members all about theatre make-up and they transformed Orla’s face to look battered and bruised just like the young Cosettte.

“We have a fabulous cast for this production who have worked really hard over the last month and the cast of over 80 are looking forward to performing the show seven times in September in Portadown Town Hall Theatre.
