Sean O’Donnell of Battlefield Band will be guest of circle

Sean O’Donnell, best known as a member of the great Scottish group, the Battlefield Band, will be a special guest of the Londonderry traditional singing circle on October 1.

According to Vincent Strunk of the circle: “Sean is highly accomplished guitarist and singer.

“He was born and brought up in Derry, and moved to Scotland in 1996 quickly becoming involved in the music scene there; playing with the award- winning Scots Irish band Beneche and The Emily Smith Band, as well as with Michael McGoldrick and Daimh.

“Sean joined Battlefield Band in 2005 and has become a keystone of the group’s sound: his soulful vocals and driving rhythmic guitar adding so much to the repertoire of the band.

“He is well known both nationally and internationally so we are delighted that he has found the time to come to our session.”

The session is as usual in Tinney’s Bar, Patrick St, on October 1,at 9pm sharp.
