Local schools get '˜cash for clobber' with new council competition
Run in partnership with Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful, Eco-Schools and Cookstown Textile Recyclers Cash for Clobber is a great way for schools to be environmentally friendly by recycling old and unwanted clothing and raise some welcome funds at the same time with the schools who collect the most textiles being in with the chance of winning a host of fantastic cash prizes up to £1500!
All participating schools need to do is collect clothing using bags or specially designed bins (banks) or both.

Hide AdAll types of new or used clean clothing and shoes (pairs only) are acceptable.
Other items accepted include textiles (except duvets and pillows).
Last year 235 schools took part collecting a whopping 275 tonnes of clothing.
If every school in NI took part, an amazing 1,163 tonnes of clothing could be diverted from landfill to be reused or recycled. In addition to providing a simple and effective way to recycle unwanted clothing, and make money for your school, the Cash for Clobber programme from Cookstown Textile Recyclers contributes financially to numerous local charities.

Clothing collected is redistributed to developing countries around the world or recycled into industrial fibres.
