Portrush Raft Race 2020 cancelled

Portrush Raft Race 2020 is the latest event to be cancelled due to Covid-19 restrictions.

In a statement, organisers said: “We’d hoped to reschedule the event for immediately after the summer but we have to be realistic and instead we’re putting all our efforts into making Raft Race ’21 a wonderful weekend for all the family with this year’s woes a distant memory.

“To our delight Porter and Co have remained in place as our major sponsor giving us the confidence to take the iconic Portrush Raft Race up a notch. This enthusiasm is reflected in the fact that several members are already working on the programme content which will include numerous new ideas.

“Brian Moore has been booked to act as compere once again and several high profile entertainers are in the mix with the possibility of extending the event into the Saturday night.

“Of course, most will know that the Portrush Raft Race has become a two day event and it’ll be much to the delight of dog owners that the Sunday will have lots of canine capers with its very own Dog Show as well as a plethora of fundraising fun.

“The main benefitting charity is, as always, the RNLI who direct all monies received to the upkeep of the busy Portrush Lifeboat. Further details will follow but in the meantime, see you all on May 29 and 30, 2021.”
