Rams Pocket Radio added to Belsonic line-up

LISBURN band Rams Pocket Radio have added yet another summer festival date to the calendar and will be taking to the stage at Belsonic as the opening act for 30 Seconds to Mars.

Rams Pocket Radio, aka Peter McCauley, have just been announced as the latest addition to the Belsonic line-up, which also includes Beady Eye, Elbow, The Specials and Primal Scream.

This has already been a fantastic year for the Lisburn singer-songwriter, who had the honour of a slot at Glastonbury at the start of the summer.

The former member of well-known Lisburn band Mojo Fury has branched out on his own to form Rams Pocket Radio and the band is proving to be a great success.

Unfettered personal expression is the focus, and with the timeless works of the 1950’s product designer Dieter Rams in mind; purity, simplicity and longevity are the first concerns.

For his live performance Peter is joined onstage by friends, and between them they create an intense and unmissable musical experience.

Within a year of being, the band has performed extensively throughout Northern Ireland and more recently the UK and Germany playing a variety of well attended shows and performing with artists such as Darwin Deez, Iain Archer, Duke Special and Tuneyards.

Despite only being together a short time the band have already picked up an award from the Music Quest competition, and were positioned in the exclusive Hotpress ‘Hot for 2010’ list in February.

Rams’ Pocket Radio has gathered a volume of positive reviews and has received airplay both locally and nationally - this includes two Radio 1 NI live sessions and selection for the prestigious BBC 6 Music ‘Introducing’ podcast with Tom Robinson.

Rams Pocket Radio, as well You Me At Six, will open for 30 Seconds to Mars at a sold-out date on August 16.

Belsonic is shaping up to be one of the highlights on the Northern Ireland music scene, with a host of bands lined up for the two-week festival.
