Successful Art Exhibition for Harmony Art Group

LISBURN Harmony Art Group held their very own art exhibition in the community hall open to family and friends in LaganView Enterprise Centre on Wednesday June 27.

The group, one of the centre’s long standing recreational groups, has been in operation for a long time and actually used the former West Lisburn Community Centre before LaganView was built. The group has become a very close knit group consisting of approximately 8-10 members who attend LaganView on a weekly basis for a cuppa, chat and of course some quality painting time.

The opportunity to exhibit their work arose from some funding received from the South Eastern Health & Social Care Trust under the Safe & Well Project which also enabled the group to avail of a tutor over a period of weeks, purchase some art easels and also pay for room hire at LaganView.

This is the first time the class has decided to do something like this as their priority when they attend weekly is simply to take pleasure in some chat in a relaxed environment while enjoying their favourite hobby.

According to Joanne Casey, centre manager of LaganView, the exhibition was an absolute credit to the art group and was a great opportunity to showcase each individual’s wonderful talent and skills. Some even surprised themselves by selling some of their art work.

Family and friends were greeted openly and met with a warm reception with plenty of food and refreshments on offer to make it a great afternoon’s success.

The class is already planning their next exhibition. If anyone would like to join Lisburn Harmony Art Group please drop into LaganView any Wednesday from 1.30pm-3.30pm and speak to the members. The group are currently having a well deserved summer break but will be back ready for action on Wednesday August 1.
