25 local PSNIwarned

TWENTY five police officers in G District - which includes Londonderry, Limavady and Strabane - have received formal written warnings from Superintendents in the last two years, the Sentinel can reveal.

Fifteen were rapped for failure to investigate, three regarding the handling of property and three for failure in duty.

Other officers were reprimanded for failure to supervise, discredit on service, on grounds of integrity and for failure in professional duty.

The PSNI stated: “In G District since 2010, the total number of officers who have received Superintendents Written Warnings (SWW) is 25, and the ranks of the officers are Constable and Sergeant.”

During the same period eight officers (Inspector, Sergeant and Constable rank) who were attached to G District at the time of misconduct hearing were the subject of formal discipline since 2010.

The PSNI said some of these officers may no longer be serving in this District now.

The charges faced by the officers related to integrity, professional duty, police investigations, duty of supervisors and detained persons.
