“A lot of children have worked extremely hard to get very good grades and we are absolutely delighted for them,” she commented.

“This year’s results are up in many, many subjects. We have some subjects that have well exceeded what they were hoping for and we are delighted that the children now will be able to return to sit their AS courses or the other courses that we offer.”

Mrs Bell went on to thank the staff for all their hard work and dedication, and for playing their part in the school’s exam success.

Across Northern Ireland, A* - C grades were achieved by 78 per cent of pupils, an increase from 76.5 per cent in 2013.

The top grades, A* and A, were awarded to 28.2 per cent of entrants, a slight increase from 28 per cent 12 months ago.
